Saskia Harmon
Dance Director

Hi, I’m Saskia, Dance Director at ROOTS Academy.

Some kids know they want to dance. Others are curious but shy. And some parents want their child to move more, try something physical, maybe find a place where they belong.

Whatever brought you here, Free Trial Week is the low-pressure way to find out. Your dancer joins a real class, meets the teacher, and you’ll see pretty quickly if this is their thing.

Dance registration closes January 30th—after that, the next chance is summer camps or June 2026. But this week is just about trying it.

who will teach my child?

The teacher shapes everything—whether your child walks in nervous and leaves excited, or the other way around.

Our dance instructors aren’t just talented; they’re warm. They notice the shy kid in the back. They know how to challenge without discouraging. They make the studio feel safe enough to mess up and try again.

We’ll place your dancer in the right class for their age and experience. If it’s not the right fit, we’ll find another.

Just a few of our over 20 teachers…

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens at a trial class?2025-12-24T14:10:12-06:00

Your dancer joins a real class with other students. They’ll meet the teacher, learn some moves, and get a feel for the studio. It’s relaxed and welcoming—we want them to have fun, not feel tested.

Does my child need dance experience?2025-12-24T14:10:36-06:00

No. We have classes for complete beginners through advanced dancers. We’ll place your child in the right level.

What should my dancer wear?2025-12-24T14:10:59-06:00

Comfortable clothes they can move in—leggings, shorts, fitted tops. No jeans or dresses. Hair pulled back.

Do they need dance shoes?2025-12-24T14:11:20-06:00

Not for the trial. Bare feet or socks are fine. If they continue, we’ll help you get the right shoes for their class.

What ages do you teach?2025-12-24T14:11:44-06:00

18 months through 18 years. We have classes for every stage.

Why does registration close January 30th?2025-12-24T14:12:43-06:00

Our dance classes run on a seasonal schedule and start together as a group. After January 30th, the next registration window is for summer camps in June 2026 when we you can register for the 2026-27 season.

How much does it cost if we decide to continue?2025-12-24T14:41:43-06:00

Tuition starts at $85/month and varies by age and the number of classes per week. We’ll go over pricing after the trial when we know what fits your dancer.
