Students ages 7–16 will bring this classic tale to life while building confidence, teamwork, and performance skills through our comprehensive Musical Theatre Production Program.
Participation in Oliver JR! includes two required components:
- Triple Threat Class — foundational weekly training in singing, acting, and dance.
- Oliver, Jr Production Rehearsal Class — focused rehearsals for Oliver JR! performances.
Together, these classes provide the whole musical theatre experience — from mastering audition material to performing under stage lights.
Oliver, Jr Production Details.
Production Rehearsal Class
- Production Rehearsal class will meet 2 times a week. Wednesdays (6:30-7:30pm) and Saturdays (1-4pm)
- The program will run January 14-ending in shows on May 23 and 24th, 2026.
- We will not meet Sat, February 14 (please hold as an added rehearsal due to construction delays), during spring break, or recital picture week.
- A full rehearsal schedule will be given to parents at the initial parent meeting to clarify any extended, unique or canceled rehearsals.
Auditions
- Materials will be sent out ahead to give students time to review audition material, and we will go over what to expect at in person auditions during the Wed classes on January 14th and 21.
- In person auditions will take place during Saturday, January 24th rehearsal. 12-4:30pm
- All students who sign up for the production are cast in the show.
Dress/Tech/Show Week
Students are required to attend the following mandatory dress and tech rehearsals to participate in Oliver Jr.
Mandatory tech/show dates:
- Saturday, May 9, 1-6pm @ROOTS
- Saturday, May 16, 1-6pm @ROOTS
- Wednesday, May 20, 6:30-8:30pm (note extended Wed rehearsal time) @ROOTS
- Friday, May 22, 4-9pm @venue
- Saturday, May 23, 12-9pm @venue SHOW DAY
- Sunday, May 24, 1-6pm @venue SHOW DAY
Costumes:
Parents will be asked to send in specific costume pieces and costume basics.
- Rehearsal Dress code: Dance apparel.
- Show Shoes: specific shoe info will be given info with costume info, likely black jazz shoes.
Oliver JR Cost
Oliver JR Rehearsal Tuition is $600 divided into 5 equal payments of $120, due Jan 1, Feb 1, March 1, + April 1 + May 1.
$50 non-refundable supply fee due at registration.

Roots is truly a special place. Liv Ash is my son’s piano teacher, and we couldn’t have asked for a better mentor. Her patience during her lessons, as well as her ability to connect with my son and make music “make sense” to him is beyond phenomenal. He always leaves his time with her excited to share with us what he has learned and played.

Roots Dance Academy has been my daughter’s second home for almost 8 years now. Kyle and Kristy have made such an amazing space for dancers to grow and shine. We have been part of the Roots community for several years now, and I can honestly say it has been one of the best decisions we’ve made for our children. My twins are involved in musical theater and hip hop, and they also practice drums on the music side of the studio—something so special and unique to Roots. My daughter Giada has danced competitively here for the last five seasons, growing not only as a dancer but as a confident, disciplined, and joyful young person.

Highly recommend Roots! We’ve had an amazing experience over the past five years. My daughter has grown so much musically and truly loves her teacher, Miss Marilyn. Justus is an outstanding mentor who is not only a gifted musician but a gifted instructor as well. I recently retired and decided to study piano, a scary move on my part since I haven’t played the piano since 8th grade. Justus is kind and encouraging. He’s exceptional at figuring out bits I have forgotten and tailoring my lessons and practice sessions to fit my learning style. Never have I felt so inspired to be creative musically! I've had a great few months singing with Mrs. Stefani!! She has made me feel hope that I can achieve my goals and dreams of being a performer! So much so, because with her help I accomplished getting into the school musical "Into the Woods"!! And I've had a great year and a half with Mrs. Emma. She has helped my dancing skills a lot! So much so, that I got into the Dance 2 class at my school!!

We love Roots Music!! Chris is amazing with our son on drums. He really brings out his personality and makes him excited about learning! Stephanie teaches voice for our daughter. She is building foundations of voice and performing!
We have had such a wonderful experience at Roots over the last two years. Dennis and Miguel are amazing mentors and my son is having a blast in the Foundations band class. The staff at Roots is incredibly friendly and helpful. The performances are run so professionally and make my boys feel like rock stars!
Stephanie is so amazing and fun!! She is so wise in the musical world. She’s able to work you through any issue or goal you want to reach. Highly recommend Stephanie for voice lessons.

The administrative staff is so organized and the communication is excellent. I love that they keep us informed with quick concise emails. They are also so easy to work with and accommodating (injuries, illness, rescheduling etc).

We couldn’t ask for a better music teacher than Justus Mitchell. For over a year now, he has made guitar and vocal lessons something Vihaan genuinely looks forward to.
He has a great balance of being friendly and respectful while also knowing exactly how to challenge Vihaan to keep him engaged and growing. The progress in both skill and confidence has been incredible.
Highly recommend — he truly knows how to spark and sustain a love for music. 🎸✨
