Ben Hanson

Ben Hanson is a passionate musician and mentor whose teaching style blends structure, encouragement, and joy. With six years of teaching experience, he strives to create an environment where learning music feels exciting, engaging, and meaningful for every student.

Ben’s musical journey began at age five when he started piano lessons at his mother’s encouragement. What began as a simple introduction quickly grew into something much deeper, and the piano soon became an important part of his identity. As he grew older, his love for music expanded into vocal performance, which became a major part of his high school and college years. One of his greatest influences was his high school piano teacher, who created an atmosphere of both discipline and fun—an approach Ben now brings into his own lessons.

For Ben, music is more than a skill; it is a family legacy. His family’s unwavering support played a major role in shaping his musical path, and he carries that same spirit of encouragement into his teaching. Having experienced the challenges of learning an instrument himself, he understands the patience and persistence it requires and works to make the learning process both rewarding and enjoyable.

At ROOTS Academy, Ben teaches across several genres, including Pop, Jazz, Country, and Classical. He prioritizes understanding each student’s unique learning style so lessons remain both structured and engaging.

Outside the classroom, Ben is a recording artist who recently released his first single. When he isn’t making music, he enjoys playing volleyball, reading, and traveling.
