Mentor Mission Statement

As a mentor at ROOTS Academy, my mission is to help my students experience the God-given gift of music by teaching, loving, and serving them to the absolute best of my abilities. I strive to create an environment where my students deeply connect with the music they are working on, and I am committed to being a mentor that breathes passion into each of them. Through my teaching, I hope to show the kind of love that Jesus shows us all.

about Isabelle

Izzy Ignatowski is a passionate music mentor whose teaching blends strong theoretical knowledge with a genuine love for music. Encouraged to try piano at age four, Izzy quickly developed a deep connection to music.

A pivotal moment came when her family relocated and her father discovered a local arts high school. Auditioning for and attending the school turned music into a serious pursuit. Intensive training in piano and voice accelerated her growth and gave her the confidence to pursue music professionally. She later attended Belmont University, studying music and music business, and brings over 17 years of musical training to her work.

As a teacher, Izzy sets clear goals and creates organized lessons that balance technique with music students genuinely enjoy. Fluent in English and Spanish, she connects with a diverse range of students. Teaching is deeply personal to Izzy, and she especially values seeing students overcome challenges and rediscover their excitement for their art. Many long-term students continue seeking her guidance, reflecting the strong relationships she builds as a mentor. Beyond teaching, Izzy is an active songwriter and musician. She has performed with Andrea Bocelli and in musical theatre productions, including her favorites Mary Poppins and Mamma Mia. A songwriting milestone she cherishes came when Atlantic Records selected her to write for Faouzia. She has also worked as a church musician and accompanist, while pursuing freelance photography! A growing multi-instrumentalist, Izzy is currently teaching herself guitar, ukulele, and drums.
