Audri Botkin
INSTRUMENTS
Mentor Mission Statement
Audri Botkin’s journey with music began in the comfort of her childhood home, where she would often fall asleep to her mother’s piano playing. This early exposure laid the foundation for a lifelong passion for music — a passion that was initially sparked by a picture book whose main character played the violin. Audri picked up her first violin at the age of five, fascinated by the world of classical music.
Audri’s teaching philosophy is deeply rooted in her personal experiences and the guidance of her own mentors. Inspired by luminaries like Hilary Hahn and Jacqueline du Pré, she approaches teaching with a blend of technical precision and emotional depth. Her classroom is a nurturing space where students are encouraged to master fundamentals such as posture and finger placement, while also exploring the expressive power of their instrument.
Her dedication to teaching emerged during her teenage years, when she began teaching seniors in her community. The joy she felt in seeing her students progress affirmed her calling as a mentor. Over her 20-year teaching career, Audri has maintained this enthusiasm, consistently adapting to her students’ individual needs and learning styles. Her structured lesson plans and goal-oriented approach ensure that each student feels both challenged and supported.
Outside the classroom, Audri continues to enrich her musical journey by volunteering with the Nashville Philharmonic. Audri believes that teaching is one of the best ways to stay sharp as a musician, and she delights in finding innovative methods to help her students grasp new concepts.
